The REDH is designed to provide businesses, property owners, and resident’s valuable information and instructions to assist them in recovering from the effects of a devastating incident such as fire, flood, building collapse, or other disaster. The REDH will be made available through Battalion and Division Commanders. Additional stock will be maintained and is available for distribution via the:

Disaster Preparedness Section (DPS).

The REDH is designed to be carried on a fire apparatus such as a Light Force or Engine Company.

Officers who are in charge of incidents that affect businesses, property owners, or residents shall have the discretion of providing the REDH to those affected. Guidelines for a determination to issue the REDH include, but are not limited to, incidents or situations where a significant impact either has or could occur, such as:

• Closure or displacement from either a business or place of residence.
• Financial or other impacts to a business or individual’s livelihood or quality of life.
• Expression by affected parties of confusion, extreme anxiety, helplessness, and/or requests or questions that the REDH could address.

The first page of the REDH provides an incident template for Officers to complete. The template includes incident date/time, incident number, resource that responded, and
the address where the incident report can be obtained.
