The MDC broadcast function shall be utilized for formal Fire Department communications and official business only.

members shall not use the system for transmitting messages of a personal nature, disseminating commercial
advertising, or for the purpose of promoting any commercial or business interests.

All broadcast messages are recorded in the Operations Control Division’s (MFC) Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) database and become a permanent record that can be
retrieved and subpoenaed as discovery information for litigation purposes.

Battalion Commanders will be conducting routine queries of Unit to Unit MDC broadcast messages utilizing the Incident Archive Web Based Program. These queries will take place once a month to ensure compliance.
