What is the first stage of mitosis?

A

Genetic material in nucleus is long and threadlike. It replicates and condenses. Chromosomes are visible and each is made of two chromatids.

What is the second stage of mitosis?

A

The nuclear membrane disappears and chromosomes line up along equator of cell. Spindle fibres attach to centromeres of chromosomes.
