What is Voluntary Constraints
Voluntary Constraints on a document consist of three things and are constraints businesses chose to put in place

What is Organisational
Rules or guidelines to a specific organisation that all employees must follow,
Organisational is used for consistency which may include the use of formatting tools, and the content of email signatures, having standard business opening and closing paragraphs.
What is Ethical
An organisations moral duty to be truthful and fair,
Ethical is to prevent any documents causing offence this could be the use of stereotypes, avoidance of bias in the text
What is Codes of Practice
A set of written rules for all employees to follow about what should/ should not be included within business documents for example customers must not be criticised even though they might be wrong during a complaint procedure.
What is Legislation constraints
Some document constraints are set out in legislation making it a legal requirement for organisations to follow these constraints
these constraints consist of Copy right Data Protection Consumer Protection Equal opportunities
What is Copyright
To follow the copyright, designs and patents Act, this means businesses must gain permission for any third party material they may use and must quote sources to avoid any plagiarism issues when producing business documents
What is Data Protection
The Data protection Act requires all personal information to be held securely and not shared without permission, businesses must comply with the data protection act by only including relevant personal data.
What is Consumer Protection
Consumer Protection for example consumer protection Act requires all goods and services to be accurate in business documents eg; price, description, delivery etc
What is Equal Opportunities
The equality act 2010 protects people from any form of discrimination, harassment or victimisation for example businesses should avoid discrimination in terms of disability, gender, race and religion in job advertisements.
