Prostate Gland
Cowper’s Glands
Tunica Vaginalis
Serous membrane surrounding the testicles on the front and sides
Testicles produce what hormone
Testosterone
Anatomy of the ducts
Epididymis connects the testicles to the vas deferens. The vas deferens transports semen from the epididymis to the prostatic urethra.
Accessory sex glands
Seminal vesicles and prostate provide fluids that lubricate the duct system and nutrients for sperm.
Sperm Development
Start in the seminiferous tubules, then move into the epididymis and vas deferens
Prostrate Gland functions
About the size of a walnut, it secreted the liquid portion of the seminal fluid which carries the sperm into the urethra and out of the body.
Penis Anatomy
Shaft and the glans (head) containing the meatus.
(3) columns of erectile tissue
corpus cavernosa encompasses two columns, the third is the corpus spongiosum
Cystectomy
Excision of the bladder or part of the bladder; removal of a cyst
Cystocele
Hernia of the bladder protruding into the vagina
Cystopexy
Surgical fixation of the bladder to the abdominal wall
Cystorrhagia
urinary bladder lining becomes inflamed and bleeds.
Hydronephrosis
backup of urine into the kidneys due to a blockage
Pyelocystitis
Inflammation of the bladder and renal pelvis
Pyelonephritis
Inflammation of the kidney and renal pelvis
Pyuria
Pus in the urine
Renal Agenesis
One or both kidneys complete fail to form at birth
Urethralgia
Also Urethrodynia; pain in the urethra
Epispadias
Congenital deformity of the penis where meatus is found on the top, rather than the tip of the penis
Gleason Score
Grade assigned by a pathologist to indicate aggressiveness of prostate cancer.
Phimosis
The foreskin has tightened and unable to be retracted over the glans of the penis. Found in men who have not be circumcised
