All cases of urinary tract infections skin infections
where systemic antibiotic treatment is indicated

• Infections for which the vast majority of antibiotics is used in small animal practice
• Especially pyoderma but also UTI require long treatment, and use of the wrong antibiotic can have important consequenses for patient health and owner economy
• Pyoderma and UTI are associated with MRSP and ESBLs, respectively
NB: depending on the infection type and patient status, the vet should consider whether empiric therapy is necessary while awaiting results of culture and susceptibility testing
