A

A

What are Airborne Precautions?

A

HEPA filter or negative air-pressure room is used for patients with tuberculosis. Wash hands before going into the patient’s room and when leaving the patient’s room. Wash hands if handling the patient’s body fluids. N95 or HEPA respirator masks for workers; standard masks for visitors.

What is Reverse Isolation?

A

Reverse isolation is used for immunosuppressed patients. Protects the patient from any infectious microorganisms the staff or visitors may have. Those entering the patient’s room must wear a mask, a gown, and gloves.

A

Nosocomial infections are acquired within the health care setting. These infections can be caused from environmental aspects of the facility.

Examples: airflow, temperature, humidity, carpeting, furniture, plants, etc.
