What is impaired glucose tolerance?
Fasting plasma glucose is <7mmol/L
75g 2 hour OGTT is >7.8 but <11.1 mmol/L
What is impaired fasting glycaemia?
When fasting plasma glucose is >6.1 but below 7mmol/L
What do glifozins do?
Inhibition of SLGT2 to prevent reuptake in the kidney
What do gliptins do?
Increase GLP-1 to sensitize beta cells.
What do a-glucosidase inhibitors do?
Inhibit glucose absorptions
What do GLP-1 analogues do?
Pancrease insulin absorption
How does rapid acting insulin work?
Prevent insulin hexamerisation
How does slow acting insulin work? (2 methods?)
Bind to albumin or slow depots in the skin
What type of insulin is Degludec
Long term
What genetic inheritance pattern is MODY?
Autosomal dominant
