Wound Healing Flashcards
Wound closure(epithelization)
biological cells:kertinocyte culture, platelet rich plasma,Growth factor impregnated dressings
External materials:Grafts,staples,flaps,Regen D
Complications of wound healing
Physical evidence
1)Scars;atrophic,dyschromic
2)Ulcer;Marjolins ulcer
2)Keloids
Then hypertrophic,chronic unhealed,contracture
Wound assessment physical exam
Wound outlook
-infection signs,odor/exudate, surrounding skin,wound edge,sote size,depth and location
-Wound base:Tender,indurated
-Wound floor:necrosis,granulation
-Lab test:WS,MCS/WB culture
Open wound -skin is broken…
Object wound:penetrating,crushing,perforating wound,laceration
Motion wound :friction/abrasion wound ,blast wound, traction and avulsion
Clean wound
UnInfected operative wounds
No inflammation
Clean contaminated wound
Operative wounds entering abdomen and trunk under controlled conditions
Inflammation but no unusual contamination
Contained wound
Fresh wounds
During surgery due to break in strike technique
Dirty wound
Old traumatic wounds with retained devitalised tissue
Organism causing post operative infection were present in the operative field before operation
Ulcer Vs wound vs injury
Ulcer is bridge in skin caused by necrosis
Wound is injury caused by extranl factors
Injury is disruption in normal physiology and anatomy of a tissue, organ or system.
