World Rebellions Flashcards
A rebellion that was caused by poor economical and living conditions caused by King Louis the 16th. They killed the king and queen with a guillotine and redesigned their political system. This devolved into the time period known as the Reign of Terror.
French Rebellion
A famous rebellion that overthrew China’s last dynasty (the Qing) because they couldn’t modernize their country and they couldn’t succesfully defend against foriegn agression
Xinhai Revolution
A famous revolution led by Fidel Castro and they ousted Batista in 1958 and replaced with a revolutionary socialist state
Cuban Revolution
Also know as the Islamic revolution, this revolution overthrew the last monarch in this country, Pahlavi, with a republic.
Iranian Revolution
A famous revolution led by self-liberated slaves against the French rule in Saint-Dominuge and it was meant to stop slavery
Hatian Revolution
The founding of the communist party of this country and led by Mao Zedong, resulted in the proclamation of the people’s republic of this country
Chinese Communist Revolution
A recent revolution that occured in 2004 and was a series of protests after the run off vote of the Urkanian revoltuion that was said to be very corrupt, have voter intimidation, and voting fraud
Orange revoltuion
A revoltuion that happened in 1917 that abolished the monarchy of this country, and the creation of a new republic and lead by the bolsheviks.
Russian Revolution
A rebellion that was formed in response to oppresive regimes and low standards of living and happened in much of the islamic world
Arab spring
A gorup formed in 1994 and has been at work against the Mexican state and their spokesperson is Galeano. They seek indigeious control of local resources
Zapatsitas
This revolution has resisted control of dictator Somza and ended in the Contra war, with the revoltuion being successful
nicuraguan revolution
Also known as the Kenya Emergency, this rebellion of Kenyan people fought against the british army and was thought to be due because of the British policy of dviding and ruling
