A

Went to America and qualified as a doctor in 1849. She was the only woman doctor on the official list of doctors and she encouraged other women

A

She was tutored privately to become a doctor. He attended medical lectures but had to stop when male students objected. In 1865 she passed the Apothecaries exam and became the first women in britain with a license to dispense medicine. She was not allowed to work in hospitals in england so she went to france and gained a degree from the university of Paris
