By 500AD the Roman Empire had disintegrated in Western Europe

A mass of small kingdoms with ever changing borders. There was no longer a central government
Why were so many Roman ideas lost in Europe?
Some books were destroyed and the tribes who followed the Romans couldn’t read
What destroyed Roman public health systems?
Wars between different tribes and countries
What were the treatments like after the fall of the Roman Empire?
They were very simple like herbal remedies, bleeding, purging and supernatural ideas
What happened to medicine after the fall of the Roman empire?
There was a return to a more primitive outlook
Why was there no improvement in medical skills or public health after the fall of the Roman empire?
Because money was spent on building defences and armies and in Europe the training of doctors was abandoned
Why was communication between doctors reduced?
Because travel for doctors became more dangerous so they could not share their ideas
