What did Pare discover in the war?
A new method of treating gunshot wounds: an ointment made of egg, turpentine and rose oil, and used silk threads called ligatures to tie up blood vessels to stop bleeding
Why was Pare forced to make his own ointment?
When he run out of hot oil
What was good about Pare’s ointment?
That soldiers were in a lot less pain compared to when the hot oil was used
What was Pare’s ointment made out of?
Egg yolk, turpentine and rose oil
Before Pare, how were open wounds sealed?
By using a red hot cautery iron
What was bad about Pare’s ligatures?
It was a slow process and if the silk thread was dirty it could cause infection
