individuals create new goals and new ways of getting there
Meritocracy
deeply individualistic emphasis on goal attainment which produces-anomie
Anomie
sense that one is split from society
Moral panic
When society reacts disproportionately to a social phenomenon, which becomes indicative of larger social problems and a decaying of society at large
Neoliberalism
a state of society that frees the market from government regulations, turns economies toward finance capital and dissolves welfare provisions
