When Two Letters Meet Flashcards
Merging الإدغام
It is merging a letter with Sukooninto a letter with Harakah, in a way that they become one letter (the second letter) with Shaddah.
The two identical letters الحرفان
المتماثلان
They are the two letters that share the same articulation point and the same characteristics.
When two identical letters meet together -if the first one is with Sukoonand is not letter of Madd-merging them is a must
The two similar letters الحرفان
المتجانسان
They are the two letters that share the same articulation point but differ in some of their characteristics.
Whenever two similarletters meet together -of the following cases –and the first one is with Sukoon-merging them is a must:
The merging of similar letters is limited to 8cases
The 8 cases of the similar merging
1- الذال في الظاء 2- الدال في التاء 3- التاء في الدال 4- التاء في الطاء 5- اللام في الراء 6- الثاء في الذال 7- الباء في الميم 8- الطاء في التاء
8- الطاء في التاء
It is an “incomplete” merging, because the strong letter does not enter a weaker letter, so the Arabs used to merge the ط into the ت while still keeping the characteristic of compression of the ط
And this is by the speaker putting his tongue on ط
without Qalqalah, then removing it to a ت with
Harakah:
