Week Three Flashcards
What are the different types of research questions?
Questions of definition or fact
Questions of variable relations
Questions of value
Questions of policy
Describe the approach to communication research
1) Identify your research question
2) Formulate your hypothesis
3) Reasoning and experience
4) Design and conduct
5) Analysis and interpretation
Within subject designs?
The same group of people experience more than one condition, or multiple variables are assessed within the same group of people
Between subject designs?
Different groups of people are exposed to different conditions in the experiment
Qualitative
Describes observations
Quantitative
Uses numbers or qualities
Significance
The probability that your result occurred by chance versus the probability it occurred because your hypothesis is actually predicting something that really exists.
Multilevel modelling
A complicated statistical technique that assesses multiple observations/pieces of data at the same time rather than sequentially.
