Politics
Anything that involves groups of persons making decisions or influencing decisions regarding allocation of resources
Policy
Plans that guide the actions of government, institutions, corporations, or communities; often reflect the beliefs of the majority of those directly responsible for creating the policy
Healthy Policy
Policies target towards health care goals within a society; outlines priorities and roles of different groups
Healthy Public Policy
Improve and make changes to the living conditions that impact health, such as housing, education, nutrition, childcare, and transportation.
Structuralism
acknowledges existence of a fixed real world with ideas that rest upon a bedrock of material relations - e.g. human, social, economic relations or a combo of the three; believed in universal truths that explained almost everything
Post-structuralist
doubt existence of concrete reality; Ideas and our ideas about the world (reality) depend upon constructed discourse in society; The way we speak and communicate with each other and respond to that communication; Did argue that universal truth is unknowable - there is the existence of multiple truths; Meanings are forever shifting, not fixed or static
