A

-Leadership provides influence via processes such as making changes in work context, influencing staff attitudes, behaviour or performance
-strong leaders retain strong staff
-Positive effect on staff performance outcomes when leadership styles are clear, when expectations are clear and when there is open and engaging communication
-Safety – linked to effect of work climate factors (leadership on safety awareness & organizing processes)

6 Steps to Ethical Decision Making (Josephson Institute of Ethics Model)

  1. Stop and think: recognize the ethical decision and avoid making a rash decision
  2. Clarify goals- understanding goals can help us determine our desired or expected outcome
  3. Determine facts - consider source of information and if its credible
  4. Develop options - brainstorm a list of options
  5. Consider consequences - who will be affected by the choice? what good and harm can come of it?
  6. Choose, monitor, modify - make your choice, then consider if it was the right one, what you might do different next time
