It lies between the anterior and posterior divisions of the obturator nerve

Flexes leg at hip
Hamstring part:
Adducts thigh at hip

Hamstring part = tibial nerve

Adducts thigh at hip
Flexes leg at knee
What is the action of obturator externus?
External rotation of the thigh (the clue is in the name)
