If you are told about a body that is on or near the line what must you do? (M3 Reg 3.1)
- Find out the location of the body in relation to running lines
- If necessary, arrange for the emergency switch off of the electric traction current
- Inform Control
Following a fatality, once the body has been located, when may the signaller allow trains to proceed? (M3 Reg 3.2)
- Body parts are unrecognisable, and
- Body parts are clear of the line, and
- Body parts cannot be struck by a train
When may a signaller allow trains to pass recognisable body parts? (M3 Reg 3.2)
- The driver agrees
- The body parts will not be seen by passengers
If you have been informed of a controlled evacuation, what are your actions? (M1 Reg 6.7)
Same actions when told about any type of evacuation of a train:
- Block all lines that may be affected
- Inform the driver when you have provided protection
If a driver tells you about trespassers, what information should you try and get from them? (TS1 Reg 18.1)
As much as possible, including:
- Reporting number of the train
- Location of the trespassers
- Whether the trespassers are lineside or on or near the line
- Whether the trespassers appear likely to endanger trains
- Brief description of the trespassers (including any distinguishing features such as age or what they’re wearing)

- Take any other action that will allow the trespassers to be removed
If you are told about trespassers who are on or near the line, or are lineside and moving towards the line, what must you do? How long must you continue to do this? (TS1 Reg 18.1)
- Stop each train which would proceed over the affected portion of line
- Tell each driver what is happening and to proceed at caution past the location
- You must continue to do this until you are sure the line is clear
If you are told about trespassers who may endanger trains, minor obstacles on the line, animals that are likely to cause an obstruction, or a cow/bull or other large animal within the boundary fence, what must you do? How long must you continue to do this? (TS1 Reg 18.1 and Reg 18.2)
- Stop each train which would proceed over the affected portion of line
- Tell the driver what is happening and to proceed at caution past the location
- If there is a tunnel that might be affected you must instruct the driver not to exceed 10mph through the tunnel
- You must not allow more than one train to be in the tunnel at the same time
- You must continue to do this until you are sure that the line is clear

- Deer
- Six or fewer sheep
