Define emotion
PPB
Physical, psychological & behavioural episodes that create a state of readiness.
Define attitudes
BFI
The cluster of beliefs, feelings, and intentions (in parallel with emotion) toward an ‘attitude object’. They are predictive of behaviour.
Define Cognitive or emotional dissonance
An inconsistency in beliefs/ feelings/ behavior or emotions.

- Distress— a degree of physiological, psychological, and behavioral deviating from healthy functioning

Models 3 stages of dealing with stress
- Alarm reaction - activates physiological stress.
- Resistance, activates physical, psychological, and behavioral mechanisms giving an individual more energy and engage coping mechanisms
- Exhaustion – where stress exceeds a persons capacity to deal with it.
