Week 6: Abdominal Vasculature Flashcards
Structure: Inferior vena cava.
Receives blood from:
Lumbar veins.
Right gonadal vein.
Suprarenal veins.
Inferior phrenic veins.
Renal veins.
Hepatic veins.
Distro: Drains into Postero-inferior part of the right atrium.
Structure: Sup. Mesenteric Artery
Origin: Abdominal aorta
Distro: Part of GI tract derived from midgut
Structure: Inf. mesenteric artery
Origin: abdominal aorta
Distro: supplies part of the GI tract derived from the hindgut
Structure: Renal artery
origin: abdominal aorta
distro: kidneys and suprarenal glands
Structure: splenic artery
origin: coeliac trunk
distro: spleen, pancreas and stomach
Structure: splenic vein
origin: several tributaries that emerge from hilium
distro: unites with sup. mesenteric vein to to form the hepatic portal vein (drains spleen, pancreas, and stomach)
Structure: Portal vein
Origin: arises from behind pancreas via the union of the sup. mesenteric and splenic vein
Distro: drains into liver
structure: left hepatic vein
origin: within the liver, left hepatic vein runs along the left lobe of the liver
Distro: drains L. lobe of liver into the vena cava
structure: right hepatic vein
origin: within the liver, right hepatic vein runs along the right lobe of the liver. Longest and largest hepatic vein.
Distro: drains L. lobe of liver into the inf. vena cava near upper border of caudate lobe
Structure: Common iliac vein
Origin: continuation of ext. and int. iliac vein
Left and right common iliac vein unite at the level of L5 to form the inferior vena cava
Distro: drains pelvis and lower limb
Structure: Renal veins
origin: hilus of the kidney by interlobar (veins that originate inside) the kidney
Distro: drains kidneys and suprarenals into inf. vena cava
structure: abdominal aorta
origin: continuation of the thoracic aorta as it passes through the diaphragmatic aortic aperture
distro: supplies abdomen, pelvis and lower limb via its many branches
structure: common iliac artery
origin: terminal branch of the abdominal aorta at L4
distro: supplies pelvis and lower limb
structure: common iliac artery
origin: terminal branch of the abdominal aorta at L4
distro: supplies pelvis and lower limb
structure: celiac trunk
origin: abdominal aorta below the aortic hiatus of the diaphragm
distro: supplies
Stomach.
Spleen.
Pancreas.
Superior part of the duodenum.
Gallbladder.
Liver.
