Q

Trapezius

A

Origin-
-upper fibers- base of skull, occipital protuberance, and posterior ligaments of the neck, spinous process of C7 and T1-T12

Insertion-posteror aspect of lateral third of clavicle, medial border of acromion process, and upper border of scapular spine

Action-

  - upper fibers- elevation of scapula, extension and rotation of head
  - middle fibers- elevation, upward rotation, and adduction
  - lower fibers- depression, adduction, and upward rotation

Q

Rhomboid (major and minor)

A

Origin- Spinous process of C7 and T1-T5

Insertion- Medial border of scapula below spine

Action- Rhomboid major and minor work together. Retraction (adduction), Downward rotation: from upward rotated position they draw scapula in downward rotation. Elevation: slight upward movement accompanying adduction
