What does this finding mean for people who said rehabilitate?

Prediction = People who scored high on religiosity tended to focus on the negative side of human nature. That is:
- Children are born inherently evil/bad
- Workers are inherently lazy
- Prisoners should receive harsher penalties

Explanation of results for Factor 1 religiosity Scenario 3
Traditional [established] religions have primarily explained the suffering of individuals on the will of God. Hence, it would predict that people who score high on “Religiosity” would strongly endorse the law and order notion of increasing penalties against those who have broken the law [sinned]. Changing society and rehabilitating prisoners does not fit this view and thus these strategies are not strongly endorsed
Results for Scenario 3 on Factor 2 Naturalism
- High on naturalism = score low on penalties
- Responded equally to changing society and changing prisoners (rehabilitating) (higher than penalties)
Explanation of results for Factor 2 Naturalism Scenario 3
People who score high on this factor are focusing on a fundamental connectedness between the individual and the social [human] environment in which they live. Hence, strongly endorsing changing the society [which in turn will indirectly change the individual] and changing [rehabilitate] prisoners to strengthen their connection with society [develop skills to get jobs, money, home, family, etc]. If people are part of the environment, can change the environment or change the person

- High on change societal values
- Slightly lower on rehabilitate prisoners
- Lowest on increase penalties
