Q

What are surveys used for?

A

1-Describing market situations or evaluating marketing strategies
2-Analysing target populations or market structures
3-Indentifying meaningful relationships (for example women more inclined using your product.. etc).

Q

What are the advantages of surveys?

A
  1. easy to carry out
  2. larger sample size so you can generalise to general population
  3. you can do factor analysis / statistical analysis to have new factors and relationships from the data

Q

What are the disadvantages of surveys?

A
  1. questionnaires need to be accurate
  2. No in-depth data
  3. Time to get the results difficult to predict
  4. Response rate low
  5. Can’t know if truthful responses
  6. Misinterpretation of data
  7. inapropriate data analysis

Q

what are scale errors?

A
errors on the scale because it either :
1-lack of precision
2-inapropriate terms
3-scale doesn't represent the question
4-lack of discrimination power of the question

Q

What are the Data analysis error that you can make?

A

1- Innapropriate analysis procedure

2- misinterpretation of the data either because it is an interpretation error or a selective portion error

Q

what are selective perception bias

A

it is when you select a wrong portion of the results and so it gives a partial picture of reality.

16
Q

What is an interpretive biase

A

it is when you interpret the data in a wrongfully manner.

17
Q

What are the two types of respondent error?

A

1- non-response error

2-response error

18
Q

What are the kind of response error that you can have

A

1- Human memory problem
2- socially desirable answers
3- deliberate falsification

19
Q

What can happen in the case of non-response respondent error

A
  1. the final sample is not the planned sample because of the lack of response that is not equally distributed. So not all non-response leads to sampling errors
20
Q

True or F : All non-response leads to sampling errors

A

false, only if unequal distribution.

21
Q

What is population specification error

A

Population specification error (also known as population frame crror) is the term used to describe an incorrect definition of the target population of interest to the research question. Correctly defining the target population to be studied is a critical step in research.
