What is the goal of the quality function deployment?
it is a method used to translate consumer wishes into product requirements, used to link the marketers (consumer demands) and the information for the food technologist (the product demands).

What is the “what”
the voice of the consumer. The consumer doesn’t have to be the final person buying the product it can be the supermarkets for example.

- putting too much what (6 max)
- Using scientific language for the what
- Being too general (nice taste)
- Obvious requirements like the safety level or easy to open.
What are the how of the house of quality
It is the translation of the what into the product’s properties
What does it mean if you have an empty column?
You didn’t translate one what into a how
What does it mean when you have an empty row?
you might have one how that is there for no reason at all

What is the grading for the relationship matrix
0 to 9 and it can be positive or negative.
What is the purpose of the correlation matrix
It is to show the relationship between the how to know if they will either positively or negatively impact each other.
What is the basement in the house of quality ?
It is the place where you write the targets, also known has how much.
How is the importance rating calculated
- multiplication of the importance of each HOW with the correlation value
- Add all the values obtained from one single column and you have the importance rating
What are the consumer importance ratings
The technical importance rating provides a relative importance of each HOW in achieving the collective WHATs. It is a number from 1 to 5. 5 being the most important.
