  3. Because of the potential for the prevention of many cases of cardiovascular disease
  4. Due to the large economic burden on the health care system as the most expensive disease group

What is the food Tick Program?

A

The food tick program is a nutrition program, established in 1989 as part of the heart foundations strategy to improve healthy patterns of all Australians. It’s a guide to assist people in making healthy eating choices. To earn the tick, foods need to meet standards in relation to fat levels, trans fat, kilojoules, salt, fiber and calcium.
