= Sense of hearing and balance (afferent)

17
Q

CNVIX

A

glossopharyngeal
= ability to taste and swallow (both)

18
Q

CNX

A

vagus
= Digestion and heart rate (both)

19
Q

CNXI

A

accessory
= Shoulder and neck muscle movement (efferent)

20
Q

CNXII

A

hypoglossal
= Ability to move your tongue (efferent)

21
Q

what are the speech and swallowing nerve

A

Trigeminal V

facial VII

Glossopharyngeal IX

vagus X

accessory XI

hypoglossal XII

22
Q

somatic VS visceral

A

somatic = body wall muscles

visceral = glands or organs

23
Q

general VS special

A

general = touch, pain, temp, pressure

special = vision, hearing, taste, and smell

24
Q

Nerve components

A

epineurium - wraps entire nerve

perineurium - bundles many nerves into fascicles

endoneurium - each nerve filament

25
Q

CNV branches

A

Opthalmic (CN V1) = sensory

Maxillary (CN V2) = (sensory innervation of the palate & upper teeth)

Mandibular (CN V3) = mixed ( lower lip, teeth, buccal mucosa, general sensations of the anterior 2/3 of tongue)

26
Q

CNVII innervations

A

efferent
- General somatic fibers are facial expressions + lip movements

  • Crying and saliva production

Afferent
- Special anterior tongue fibers (for taste)

27
Q

CNIX innervations

A

efferent
- Fibers to the stylopharyngeus to help elevate the pharynx in swallowing

Afferent
- Special anterior tongue fibers (for taste)

  • General somatic afferent touch (pressure & pain)
28
Q

CNX innervations

A

efferent
- pharynegal and velar muscles (swallowing)
- Larynx (voice)

Afferent
- pharyngeal & larynx region
- Ear drum & external ear

29
Q

CNXII

A

General somatic efferent to the muscles of the tongue

30
Q

CNXI

A

General somatic support for our neck muscles

31
Q

coronal & frontal plane

A

side to side (start jumps)

32
Q

horizontal / transverse plane

A

cuts the body in half from the waist (leaning forwards or backwards)

33
Q

medial plane

A

vertically passes through the middle (being chopped into two even halves)

34
Q

saggital plane (median)

A

a vertical plane which passes down the midline of the body (similar to medial plane)
