Usually a person can marry only within his or her caste, and the children inherit that status. Hindu is an Indian religion. (MN: No wonder people want to be Americans!)

Caste determines the food they can eat, where they can live and who they can marry.

A

The state of mind when one focuses on small sections of an issue rather than considering its wider context.

Parochial is a good word to discribe religion. [MN: “Forget the big picture, just teach me what you want me to know so you can control my thinking.”]

[MN: Parochial is like showing you a picture of an iceberg and telling you it is the entire continent of Antarctica. It doesn’t show you the entire truth. just the part they want you to know about. In other words, they don’t show you the other side of the coin, or the other side of the story. Just the part they want you to believe in.]
