Parochial ADJ.: Having a limited or narrow outlook or scope. Not seeing the the whole picture or truth.
Parochialism is the state of mind, whereby one focuses on small sections of an issue rather than considering its wider context. It consists of being narrow in scope.
The term originates from the idea of a parish, one of the smaller divisions within many Christian churches such as the Roman Catholic.

A person’s jati determines her profession, the food she can eat, her place or residence and her eligible marriage partners. Usually a person can marry only within his or her caste, and the resulting children inherit that status.

Similar to the character that starts shouting because he thinks the loudest talker will be the winner of the discussion.
