Parochial ADJ.: Having a limited or narrow outlook or scope. Not seeing the the whole picture or truth.

Parochialism is the state of mind, whereby one focuses on small sections of an issue rather than considering its wider context. It consists of being narrow in scope.

The term originates from the idea of a parish, one of the smaller divisions within many Christian churches such as the Roman Catholic.

[MN: Parochial is a good word to describe religion. Forget the big picture with all the facts, just teach me what you want me to know so you can control my thinking starting right from the crib.]

A

Hubris N: (h)yoobris. Excessive pride or self-confidence.

Caste N. (kast) Each of the hereditary classes of Hindu society, distinguished by relative degrees of ritual purity or pollution and of social status. Members of the lower castes/ a man of high caste.

Throughout history, and in almost all societies, concepts of pollution and purity have played a leading role in enforcing social and political divisions and have been exploited by numberous ruling classes to maintain their privileges. As time went by, large castes were divided into subcastes. Eventually the original four castes turned into 3,000 different groupings called jati. A person’s jati determines her profession, the food she can eat, her place or residence and her eligible marriage partners. Usually a person can marry only within his or her caste, and the resulting children inherit that status.

[MN: No wonder people want to become Americns. Free country. Remember that caste is from the Hindu religion. Hindu is an Indian religion. This caste system is a perfect example of “legal fiction”.]
