Nation-state
a territory with a politically organized body of people under a unified government who believe they belong to a shared community.
Theocracy
a form of government in which a god is the ultimate ruling authority. In a theocracy, a religious leader, who may or may not be a divine figure, governs the country on behalf of the divine. Ancient Egypt was a theocracy. The Islamic Republic of Iran is the most populous modern theocracy.
Dynastic cycle
the theory ancient Chinese historians traditionally used to describe their history. The cycle was understood as eternal: a virtuous ruler starts a ruling dynasty, the dynasty flourishes for a time, corruption sets in, the divine withdraws the Mandate of Heaven from the dynasty, a ruler establishes a new dynasty according to the wishes of heaven.
Collectivization -
a Soviet agricultural policy pursued by Stalin in the late 1920s and early 1930s. The state seized private farms by force and combined them to create large government-owned collectives. The policy gave the government of the Soviet Union the capital to transform the country into an industrial power but caused a massive famine in 1932-1933 which killed millions of peasants.
Globalization
the process of the international spread of technology, commerce, and culture.
Modernization
transforming a rural society based on agriculture and traditional values into an urban society based on industry and secular values.
Chronology
organizing historical events in a timeline or sequence in the order in which they occurred.
Periodization
grouping events into large blocks of time to better study history.
Thematic
grouping events, topics, or data by theme rather than chronology or region.
Bibliographies
lists of all works cited in the preceding publication in order to give proper credit to the source material. A bibliography is commonly found at the end of a book or dissertation.
Periodicals
serial publications that produce new issues on a regular schedule, such as magazines. Well-known examples include Time and The Economist.
Encyclopedias
reference works providing summaries of knowledge, either in general or within a specific discipline. The most utilized general print encyclopedia is the Encyclopædia Britannica and the most utilized digital one is Wikipedia
Biographical dictionaries
encyclopedic publications limited to biographical information about people, often within a certain field. Examples include The Encyclopedia of American Biography and The Biographical Dictionary of Federal Judges.
Government databases
databases of information collected by government sources.

The system for electing the President by using electors from each state based on the number of Congressional representatives the state has
