calcium carbonate, calcium gluconate, colecalciferol, alfacalcidol
to treat osteoporosis, CKD, hyperkalaemia, hypoclacaemia, vit D deficiency
What are some adverse effects of calcium and vit D?
dyspepsia, constipation
IV - cardiovascular collapse, local tissue damage if subcut
What are some warnings and interactions of calcium and vitamin D?
don’t give in hypercalcaemia
oral calcium can alter absorption of many drugs
What are some names of iron tablets and what are they used for?
ferrous fumarate, ferous sulfate
to treat or as prophylaxis of iron-deficiency anaemia
What are some adverse reactions of iron tablets?
GI disturbance - nausea, epigastric pain, constipation, diarrhoea, black stools
hypersensitivity
What are some cautions and interactions of iron?
oral iron - can exacerbate iron disease
IV - atopic predisposition could have anaphlaxis
Interactions - reduce drug absorption so take other tablets 2 hours before
