A
- Promotes liver synthesis of clotting factors
- Helps produce RBCs
- Drug of choice as antidote for warfarin OD
- Used to treat neonatal hemorrhagic disease

Adverse effects & Serious adverse effects
A
Adverse effects: anaphylaxis-like rxn, flushing, chills, fever, dizziness, cramp-like pains
Serious adverse effects:
- respiratory arrest, brain damage, death

Precautions
A
- biliary tract disease
- obstructive jaundice
- liver disease

Drug Interactions
A
- Can antagonize warfarin
- Decreased absorption w/ mineral oil

- Assess medication hx
- Monitor dietary intake
- Assess for liver disease or alcohol use
