A
  • Vitamin D2 = ergocalciferol (drug form)

- Vitamin D3 = cholecalciferol (produced by body in response to sunlight - shift to therapeutic use of this type)

A
  • Assess sclera, skin pigment, bowl movements, and lab results for liver function
  • Assess for adverse effects of vit. D therapy
  • Monitor serum calcium, magnesium, alkaline phosphatase, creatinine, and phosphate levels
  • Monitor for signs of hypercalcemia
