Why should we study aging?
We should study aging because it is a better treatment for disease because instead of having individual treatments - it can act as one treatment for all of them. By increasing aging, we can eliminate or postpone diseases.
Why is Saccharomyces cerevisiae commonly used as a model organism to study aging?
It is commonly used as a model organism to study aging because it is a fungal cell that is similar to an animal. Thus, if it works in the yeast then it can be replicated in an animal cell.
Why is mitochondrial dysfunction a possible cause of aging?
Mitochondrial dysfunction → make cells unhealthy → aging
