What is the imperative mood used for?

A

The imperative mood is used to give advice or instructions.

e.g.

Continue tout droit (Go straight on)

How is the imperative mood formed?

A

There are only 3 forms of the imperative: tu, vous and nous. The imperative is the same as the indicative mood present tense, except without the pronoun.

e.g.

Vous prenez la première rue (You take the first street)

Prenez la première rue (Take the first street)

A

Parler - to speak

  • parle
  • parlons
  • parlez

n.b. for -er verbs, the -s is missed off the end of the tu form. Tu parles becomes parle.
