How may inflection be used to form questions in French?
Add a question mark and make your voice go up at the end of the statement
Tu joue au tennis … Tu joue au tennis?
(You play tennis …. Do you play tennis?)
How may ‘est-ce que’ be used to form questions in French?
By adding ‘est-ce que’ at the beginning of the question.
Je peux vous aider. (I may help you)
Est-ce que je peux vous aider?
(Can I help you?)
How may changing the word order be used to form questions in French?
By putting the verb first.
Vous pouvez m’aider (You are able to help me)
Pouvez-vous m’aider? (can you help me?)
Turn ‘vous avez aidé la dame’ into a question.
Avez-vous aidé la dame?
In the perfect tense, the auxiliary verb comes first.
Many questions start with “Qu’est-ce que …”.
