Vasculitides Flashcards
focal granulomatous inflammation of large vessels
giant cell (temporal) arteritis
related to polymyalgia rheumatica
giant cell (temporal) arteritis
granulomatous thickening and narrowing of aortic arch and proximal great vessels
Takayasu arteritis
transmural inflammation of arterial wall with fibrinoid necrosis in different stages of inflammation + renal microaneurysms, primarily found in medium-sized renal/visceral vessels
polyarteritis nodosa
coronary artery aneurysms
Kawasaki disease (mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome)
segmental thrombosing vasculitis of medium-sized vessels
Buerger disease (thromboangiitis obliterans)
focal necrotizing vasculitis, necrotizing granulomas in lung/upper airway, necrotizing glomerulonephritis, c(PR3)-ANCA
granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Wegener granulomatosis)
necrotizing vasculitis of lung, kidney, and skin without nasopharyngeal involvement or granulomas, p(MPO)-ANCA
microscopic polyangiitis
granulomatous, necrotizing vasculitis of small vessels with eosinophilia, p(MPO)-ANCA
eosinophilic granulomatsos with polyangiitis (Churg-Strauss)
IgA complex deposition, associated with IgA nephropathy, usually follows UTI in kids
HSP
telangiectasias, recurrent epistaxis, AVMs, GI bleeds/hematuria, skin discolorations
Osler-Weber-Rendu (hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia)
