Assessment of aneurysm
Gnawing Unaffected by movement Lasts for hours/days Pain in abdomen, flank, back Abdominal mass is pulsatile Rupture may occur
Assessment of thoracic aortic aneurysm
Back pain Asymptomatic SOB Dysphagia Visible above suprasternal notch Sudden pain

5-5.5cm or expanding rapidly needs repair
Tx of choice for aneurysm
Endovascular repair (Stent)
Aortic dissection
Sudden tear in aortic intima. Blood enters aortic wall
