Vas deferens, seminal vesicle Flashcards
length of vas deferens
45 cm
explain why vas deferens is thich and muscular
so that it can carry sperms opposite gravity
beginning of vas deferens
As continuation of tail of epididymis
ending of vas deferens
as ampulla of vas medial to seminal vesicle, by joining its duct to form ejaculatory duct which opens in prostatic urethra
course of Vas deferens
1.Ascends in spermatic cord
2.enters inguinal canal through superficial inguinal ring, then exits through deep inguinal ring
3.then forms triple relation with Inferior epigastric vessels: a) lateral to IEV, b) medial to IEV c) behind IEV
4.passes downwards & backwards crossing:
* External Iliac A
* External Iliac V
* Obliterated umbilical A / Medial umbilical ligament
* Obturator N
* Obturator A
* Obturator V
* ureter (at level of ischeal spine)
5.runs medially downwards to reach base of urinary bladder and becomed Vas ampulla
Lateral Relation of vas ampulla
seminal vesicle
Anterior Relation of vas ampulla
bladder base
posterior Relation of vas ampulla
Rectum
Arterial supply of Vas deferens
- Artery of Vas <– inferior Vesical A
- or Superior Vesical A
length of seminal vesicle
5 cm
Relations of seminal vesicle
- upper blind end: terminal part of ureter
- Anterior: base of bladder
- Posterior: rectum
- Medial: Vas Ampulla
- lateral: Levator Ani
function of seminal vesicle
Secretion of seminal fluid
