Pudendal canal, Internal pudendal A, Pudendal Nerve Flashcards
Sites of pudendal Canal
At the splitting of operator internal fascia lower part. Beginning at the lesser sciatic foramen
Ending of pudendal Canal
Ends by opening in deep perineal pouch
Contents of pudendal canal
- Internal pudendal vessels
- Pudendal Nerve
Beginning of internal pudendal artery
as one of the two terminals of the anterior division of internal iliac artery
Course of internal pudendal Artery
- It leaves the pelvis through greater sciatic foreman below piriformis muscle
- it crosses ischial spine, then pass through lesser sciatic foreman to reach ischiorectal fossa
- it then enters pudendal Canal and runs until it reaches and enters deep perineal pouch
End of internal pudendal artery
Posterior to symphysis pubis, it divides into two terminals, dorsal artery of penis and deep artery of penis ๐น / dorsal artery of clitoris and deep artery of clitoris ๐บ
enumerate branches of internal pudendal artery
- inferior rectal artery
- perineal artery
- artery of bulb
- urethral artery
- two terminals, dorsal artery and deep artery
Course and branches of perineal A
- enters Ischiorectal fossa by piercing, medial wall of pudendal canal.
- It is then pierces perineal membrane to enter superficial perineal pouch
- it divides into transverse perineal artery, which supplies the superficial and transverse perineal muscles And posterior scrotal artery ๐น/ labial artery ๐บ, which supplies scrotum or labia majora
course of artery of bulb
- It arises in deep perineal pouch
- itโs pierces perineal membrane
- it enters bulb of penis and runs through corpus spongiosum on side of ureter ๐น or supplies bulb of vestibule in female ๐บ
course of urethral A
- Arises in deep perineal pouch
- pierces perineal membrane
- supplies urethra
course of dorsal artery of penis or clitoris
pass on dorsal surface of penis or clitoris
course of deep artery of penis or clitoris
enters corpus cavernosum
Origin of pudendal nerve
One of two terminal branches of the sacral plexus (S2,3,4)
Course of pudendal nerve
- Leaves the pelvis through greater sciatic foreman
- crosses sacrospinous ligament and enters through lesser sciatic foramen
- it enters pudendal canal, accompanying internal pudendal vessels
- In the pudendal canal, it gives inferior rectal nerve
termination of Pudendal Nerve
It ends by dividing into two terminal branches:
* perineal nerve
* Dorsal nerve of penis/clitoris
