Q

Enumerate branches of Posterior division of IIA

A

all are parietal (wall of pelvis), SIT:

Q

course & Distribution of Superior gluteal Artery

A

(considered continuation of post. division of IIA as it is the largest branch of IIA):
1. passes through greater sciatic foramen above piriformis muscle
2. enters gluteal region where it divides into deep & superficial branches

Q

Course & Distribution of Iliolumbar A

A
  1. Ascends upwards in front of Sacro-iliac joint & deep to psoas major, to divide into:

Iliac branch:
* Anastomose around ASIS
* Anastomose with iliac branch of obturator N
* supply iliacus

Lumbar branch:
* anastomose with 4th lumbar A
* supply qauda equina
* supply psoas major
* supply quadratus lumborum

Q

Course of 2 lateral sacral A

A

each lateral sacral A (sup & Inf) divide into 2, so total = 4 Arteries (4 Rt, 4Lt):
* enter through anterior sacral foramina to supply sacral canal
* Exit through posterior sacral foramina to supply underlying muscles

Q

Course & distribution of Obturator Artery

A

passes through obturator canal along with obturator N, it gives:
* Iliac branches: Anastomose with Iliolumbar at ASIS
* Vesical branches; Supply urinary bladder
* Pubic branches: anastomose with pubic branches of Inferior epigastric A
