Penis Flashcards
root of penis lies in the:
Perineum
body of penis lies in the:
free (outside the body)
Root of penis consists of
- 2 crura
- Bulb
one Crus of root is attached to:
- pubic arch
- Makes up posterior aspect of corpora Cavernosa
crura of the root are covered by:
ischiocavernosus muscle
bulb of penis is attached to:
- Perineal membrane
- makes up posterior end of corpus spongiosum
bulb of penis is covered by:
bulbospongiosus muscle
Bulb of penis is pierced by:
- Spongy urethra
- bulbo-urethral glands
Body of penis consists of:
- 2 corpa cavernosa: on dorsal aspect
- 1 Corpus spongiosum: on ventral aspect, containing spongy urethra
enumerate ligaments of the penis
- Fundiform ligament (sling-like): arises from linea alba & splits into 2 parts on each side of the penis
- suspensory ligament of penis: Arises from symphysis pubis and attaches to deep fascia of penis at dorsum & sides
Arterial supply of penis
3 branches of internal pudendal A:
2 deep Arteries of penis:
* each runs in corpus cavernosum
* Supplies blood during erection
2 arteries of bulb:
* runs inside bulb of penis
2 Dorsal A. of penis:
* lateral to deep dorsal vein of penis
* supplies skin & fascia covering penis
Venous drainage of penis
Superficial dorsal vein:
* runs superficial to penis of fascia
* Drains into great saphenous vein
Deep dorsal Vein:
* Drains into prostatic venous plexus through gap between transverse perineal ligament & arcute pubic ligament
Nerve supply of penis
Pudendal N –> Right & left dorsal Nerves of penis
* runs lateral to dorsal A (most lateral strucutre inside fascia of penis)
