What pathogen causes syphilis?
Treponema pallidum
What is trachoma?
Infectious disease caused by bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis (A-C serotype)
The infection causes a roughening of the inner surface of the eyelids.
This roughening can lead to pain in the eyes, breakdown of the outer surface or cornea of the eyes, and eventual blindness.
What is gonorrhoea treated with?
High dose penicillin alternatives
–> ceftriaxone or ciprofloxacin (cephalosporins)
What is chlamydia treated with?
Tetracycline (beta-lactams not active)
Doxycycline
Azithromycin
What are coliforms?
Defined as rod-shaped Gram-negative non-spore forming and motile or non-motile bacteria which can ferment lactose with the production of acid and gas when incubated at 35–37°C.
Renal stones are commonly associated with which pathogen?

What is fitzhugh syndrome?
A rare complication of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) involving liver capsule inflammation leading to the creation of adhesions.
What is trichomonas vaginalis?
An anaerobic, flagellated protozoan parasite and the causative agent of trichomoniasis.
What is reiter’s syndrome?
Also known as reactive arthritis.
The classic triad of conjunctivitis, urethritis, and arthritis occurring after an infection, particularly those in the urogenital or gastrointestinal tract.
