What were relations like before 1945 between the USSR and the West?
A
Very shaky. With the constant inner fighting over control and power, their relations were no the best. With events like the Russian civil war, Russian revolution and the Polish-Russian war.

What really gave the West a shock during World War 2?
A
The Nazi Soviet Pact, which was an agreement between the Soviets (Currently the Wests ally) and the Nazi’s (Currently their enemy). This split Poland in two, half for the Soviets and half for the Nazis. This encounter between two mad relations between the West and the USSR even worse and more rocky.
