A
It provided economic aid to countries in need of it. This way they don’ fall to Communism in desperation. As a side effect, it kept trade between the Western countries’ and the USA alive.

Poverty breeds Communism, meaning the Marshall plan eliminates one key factor needed for Communism to form.
