Urinary/Rep Org - Blood Supply Flashcards
What is analogous to the inferior vesicle a in males?
vaginal a in females
Can females have an inf vesicle a?
Yes. Males have a sup and inf vesicle aa. Females have a vaginal artery (analogous to inf vesicle in males) and if they also have an inf vesicle it will probably branch off of the vaginal a. The uterine a may also b off of the vaginal.
Path of internal pudendal a?
arises from internal iliac a, leaves pelvis thru greater sciatic foramen below piriformis, accompanies pudendal n through the pudendal canal (Alcock’s canal) just med to ischial tuberosity
Bb of internal pudendal a in female (6)
inf rectal, perineal, post labial, clitoral, deep and dorsal clitoral a
Bb of internal pudendal a in male (5)
inf, perineal, post scrotal, deep and dorsal aa of penis
Arteries associated with branching off inferior vesicle/vaginal?
males – deferential a
females – inf vesicle a (if present), uterine a
What does the inferior vesicle/vaginal artery supply?
male – bladder, prostate, seminal vesicles, vas deferens, lower ureter
female – bladder, vagina, lower uterus, lower ureter
Where do the gonadal aa (testicular/ovarian) come off the aorta?
just inf to the renal aa
what is the difference between male & female anterior division of the internal iliac artery?
male: deferent artery
female: uterine artery & vaginal artery
supplies the medial thigh
obturator artery
supplies the superior bladder
superior vesical artery
comes off superior vesical artery & supplies the vas deferens
deferent artery (male)
supplies the rectum
middle rectal artery
passes between S2 and S3 roots; supplies the perineum, runs with the pudendal nerve
internal pudendal artery
supplies the inferior portion of gluteal region (butt and thigh); passes between S2 and S3 roots; most medial to pelvis
inferior gluteal artery
supplies the uterus via the broad ligament
uterine artery (female)
what is the difference between the branches of pudendal nerve in females and males?
male: dorsal n. of penis
female: dorsal n. of clitoris
what is the difference between the branches of pudendal nerve in females/males?
male: dorsal n. of penis
female: dorsal n. of clitoris
what is the difference between the branches of internal pudendal artery in male/female?
female: posterior labial a.; clitoral a.; deep & dorsal a. of clitoris
male: posterior scrotal a; deep & dorsal a. of penis
pathway of internal pudendal artery
arises from internal iliac a; leaves pelvis via greater sciatic foramen, below piriformis; with pudendal n. through lesser sciatic foramen
