Abd Cavity/Blood Supply - Blood Supply Flashcards
Where on the aorta is the superior mesenteric trunk located?
arises from behind the neck of the pancreas
Terminal branch of the inferior mesenteric a? - what does it supply
superior rectal (passes ant to the left common iliac, supplies sup rectum)
Left colic artery supplies
descending colon
Sigmoid arteries supply
sigmoid colon
The hepatic portal v. carries twice as much blood as the _________ and has higher pressure than the ________.
– twice as much blood as the common hepatic artery
– more pressure than the IVC
Path of gastroduodenal a?
– descends behind first part of duodenum
– splits into ~2 bb (superior pancreaticoduodenal a, right gastroepiploic a)
Describe the renal arteries
run from abdominal aorta to kidneys
Describe the testicular or ovarian arteries
run from abdominal aorta to testicles (through spermatic cord) in males, ovaries in females
Describe the lumbar arteries
usually 4 pairs coming off of back of aorta, run lat and backwards on bodies of lumbar vertebrae, supply quadratus lumborum
What are the 3 main trunks on the abdominal aorta?
celiac trunk, sup mesenteric, inf mesenteric
Where is the celiac trunk located?
arises from abdominal aorta immediately below aortic hiatus of the diaphragm
Celiac trunk bb? (3)
left gastric, splenic, common hepatic
Path of left gastric a?
– smallest branch of celiac trunk
– runs sup and to the left giving bb to esophagus and liver
– turns back right to anastomose with right gastric a near lesser curvature of stomach
Path of splenic a?
– largest branch of celiac trunk
– travels to spleen
– gives off bb that supply pancreas (pancreatic bb), stomach (short gastric), greater omentum and stomach (left gastroepiploic)
Path of left gastroepiploic a?
– anastomoses with right gastroepiploic a on greater curvature of stomach
– supplies that area of the stomach and greater omentum
