A
- Checks patients name and states role
- Obtains consent for examination
- Washes hands

What is needed in position and exposure?
A
- Appropriate exposure

What is in general inspection?
A
- End of bed (looking for 2)
2. Screens arm function and assess for drift and intention tremor

What things are you looking for at end of bed?
A
- muscle wasting
- fasciculations
- neurofibromas
- scars

What do you do in tone?
A
- Checks tone in shoulder
- Checks tone in elbow
- Checks tone in wrist and hand join

What do you do in power?
A
- Assess Power of Shoulder (abduction and adduction)
- Assess Power of Elbow (flexion and extension)
- Assess Power of Wrist (flexion and extension)
- Assess Power of finger abduction and thumb opposition

What do you do in reflexes?
A
- biceps
- supinator
- triceps reflexes (+/- Jendrassik Maneuver)

What do you do in sensation?
A
- Assesses Light Touch with Cotton Wool
- Correctly identifies dermatome distributions
- Assess Pain Sensation with Neuro-Tip (uses both sharp and blunt ends)
- Safely disposes of Neuro-tip
- Assess Vibration with appropriate Tuning Fork (128Hz)
- Uses sternum as reference point and compares like for like for all sensory assessments
- Assess Proprioception

A
assesses Co-ordination with Finger-Nose test and checks for dysdiadochokinesia

A
- Thanks patient, helps cover up
- Washes hands
- Documents appropriately
