What do you do in the introduction?
- Checks patients name and states role
- Obtains consent for examination
- Washes hands
What is position and exposure?
- Couch at 45 degree angle

What do you do in general inspection?
- End of bed (mentions at least 2)
2. Resp rate
What are things to look for at end of bed?
- ECG leads
- Anaemia, scars
- Visible pulsations
- Medical paraphernalia, syndrome features
What is in the hands and arms section?
- Inspection of hands (mentions 2)
- Mentions or asses CO2 retention flap (need to do fro 30 seconds to say not present)
- radial pulse
- blood pressure
What things can you mention on the hands?
- Clubbing
- Splinter haemorrhages
- Osler nodes
- Janeway lesions
- Peripheral cyanosis
- Tendon xanthomas
- Perfusion of hands
- Cap refill
What comment should you make about the radial pulse?
bounding? radial-radial delay? collapsing pulse?
What do you look for in the face?
- Inspect eyes

- Malar flush
- Xanthelasma
- Corneal arcus
- Anaemia
What are you looking for in the mouth?
- central cyanosis
- hydration
- high arched palate
What do you look for on the neck?
- JVP

What must you rember with JVP?
demonstrates hepatojugular reflex or palpates internal jugular vein
What do you do with chest inspection?
closer inspection for scars (including axilla)
What do you do in chest palpation?
- Palpation of the apex beat (must check location as well)
